The tentative dates for this group are one Wednesday (after school) and one Saturday (10-3) per month. Dates will be confirmed commencing the first session scheduled for September 21st. Cost will be the supplies only.

Star Program:
School wide program initiated to acknowledge the random acts of kindness students perform. Nomination forms are available from the office or Mrs. G's billboard. All nomination forms will be submitted for a weekly prize draw and year end prize draw. But more importantly nominated students will receive recognition for their role in making this school a welcoming place. This year student reps are assuming a major role in this program.

Peer Support/Youth Action:
Group of 12 - 15 students who are interested in developing leadership skills. These teens will provide a contact group for the general student body to vent concerns or seek support for difficult situations. There will be a retreat planned for October 6 (hike) and 7th all day. These students will be given interpersonal communication skills training and will assist in the two scheduled Challenge Days for the 2005-2006 year. Meetings will be held at noon twice a month on Tuesdays commencing September 20th. Application forms are available from Mrs. G's billboard September 12th to 16th.

Challenge Day:
Scheduled for mid-November of 2005 and spring date 2006 and is open to approximately 90 students and 30 adult volunteers from the school and community. Watch for future info on this powerfully healing day. Issues facing teens are addressed and dealt with in an intense but fun forum.

30 Hour Famine:
Commit 30 hours to food free living in recognition and support to those less fortunate. This is followed by a feast for all those involved. Open to all students. Listen to announcements early October.

Grapes and Raisins:
Many teens are keen to share their enthusiasm with the elders in our community and some very keen elders are eager to establish friendships with teens. This group is new and there are many committed community people (PetroCan, Sundre Hospital, Foothills Lodge and Greenwood Neighbourhood Place) who believe that this will make a differnce to the quality of seniors lives. Listen to the announcements on September 19th and 20th as well as info sheet at TA on Sept. 21st. A general info meeting at noon on Sept. 26th.

Risk Taking Behaviors/Drugs and Alcohol:
One day presentation offered to all grade 9's which will include presentations by experts in the addictions field, emergency response staff, survivors of trauma, and family school wellness. Further information will follow in October.

Santa's Anonymous:
Students are encouraged to participate in the annual community drive to ensure all families experience a sense of peace and festivity at this time of year. Further info to follow in late November and early December.

Kick the Nic, Flog the Weed, Boot the Booze:
An intense three week course (noon hour once a week October 13, 27 and Nov. 10) to assist those students who wish to consider eliminating these chemicals, or any others not mentioned, from their lives or at least become more aware of the affects on health, relationships and life choices. Those wishing extra support to decrease use will be offered the Seven Challenges program facilitated by George McLead following the initial 3 week intro.

Honoring a Mentor:
Send a postcard (which will be provided) to someone you consider a mentor in your life. Postage will be provided as well as a special lunch drawn from all the entries mailed. Adults who have received these tokens of recognition have been overwhelmed with emotion and often didn't realize the impact they have had on special teens. Program offered in May 2006.

Anime Group:
We have the software for the development of this art form for interested students. More info to follow so view upcoming posters and listen to the announcements. Start up mid September. The group may have the option of noon or after school meetings.

You can help select topics by forwarding your ideas to Mrs. Grudeski.
