Sundre Community Awards Night 2007
About 140 people attended the gala Sundre Community Awards Night at the Sundre Community Centre Saturday,
recognizing the outstanding volunteer and community service efforts of individuals and groups.
The theme of the evening was the Small town with the big backyard. Stephen Dodwell was the emcee.
Co-sponsored by Family Community Support Services, the Sundre and District Chamber of Commerce, the Town of
Sundre and Mountain View Country, the event saw a dozen awards presented.
The Community Spirit Award went to Arlene Hautzinger, the Outstanding Volunteer Award went to John Grimstead,
the Employee of the Year award went to Pat McKay, the Employer of the Year award went to Kristy Smith,
the Ambassador of the Year award went to Amanda Cunningham. The Leader of Tomorrow award went to Keith
Eslinger; The Sundre and District Historical won the Arts and Cultural Award; Robyn Wall won the Youth
Leadership award; Crystal Webb won the Youth Volunteer award; and Connie Anderson won the 4-Way Stop Award.
Local cowboy poet Tom King recited several of his poems during the mid-evening break in presentations.
Sundre Mayor Roy Cummings, Mountain View County Reeve Al Kemmere and MLA Ty Lund were the official
presenters during the evening's event.
As part of the festivities, guests assembled a large puzzle featuring photographs of various Sundre
activities.
FCSS executive director Wendy Dichrow concluded the evening by commending Sundre's many volunteers and
service organizations for their efforts throughout the year.
